About Cooking for Community
The idea of Cooking for Community came from an ongoing goal to be able to adjust basic recipes to cater to varying group sizes. After recording and writing about several recipes, CFC began to shape into more than just a recipe journal. Cooking for Community is about food, friends, and feeding groups – it is a food journal of a small community in rural Mexico which attempts to create healthy meals, create their own food products (tofu, sprouts, sauerkraut, etc), and create community by bringing people from different backgrounds, cultures, and languages around the table to share meals.
About Marie
Marie, the author, lives and works at the Bosque Village, an intentional community located in the highlands of Mexico. The Bosque hosts visitors from all over the world, and the crowd ranges from 3 to 50. Marie organizes the menu, manages the kitchen, and helps promote healthy living and eating in her rural location. She enjoys fermenting foods, experimenting with unfamiliar ingredients, and playing with different international fusions. When she is not cooking in the Bosque kitchen, she works on her small web design business.
